OUR APPROACH
A clearer path to
Franchise Financing
A franchise loan starts with a business case a lender can assess. We help you put that case together the way banks want to see it.
Opening a franchise or buying an existing location? We review your costs, investment and financing needs, then bring application preparation, business planning and lender coordination into one process.
As former bankers and franchisees ourselves, we understand the franchise process firsthand - especially the business financing behind it.
How It WorksIN-HOUSE BUSINESS PLANS
Business Plans for
Franchise Loans
Your lender needs to understand your franchise, its costs and how you plan to repay the loan. We build your business plan in-house, including the operating model, market research and financial projections.
Our business plans support bank and credit-union applications, including eligible Canada Small Business Financing Program (CSBFP) loans. We tailor the plan to your project and the lender’s requirements.
- Franchise model, local market and management experience
- Project costs, your investment and the financing request
- Sales assumptions, cash-flow forecasts and repayment planning
WHAT YOU CAN FINANCE
What can Franchise
Business Loans Finance?
Financing needs depend on the franchise and the transaction. We help you separate the project’s costs and identify which expenses a lender may consider.
Equipment and fixtures
Commercial kitchen equipment, machinery, furniture and other assets needed to operate your location.
Leasehold improvements
Build-outs and renovations that prepare a leased space for your franchise’s operating requirements.
Franchise and start-up costs
Franchise fees and other launch costs, where eligible under the selected lender product or financing program.
Working capital
Inventory and day-to-day operating needs, subject to the financing product and its limits.
Business acquisitions
The purchase of an existing franchise, with options shaped by its financials and the transaction structure.
Additional locations
Expansion and upgrades, assessed alongside your existing business performance and repayment capacity.
Not every cost qualifies under every program. We review the proposed use of funds before approaching a lender.
CANADA SMALL BUSINESS FINANCING PROGRAM
CSBFP financing
for eligible franchise costs
The Canada Small Business Financing Program (CSBFP) helps eligible Canadian small businesses access loans through participating financial institutions. A loan under the program is often called a CSBFL loan.
Where the program may fit
Eligible equipment, leasehold improvements and certain intangible assets or working-capital costs may qualify, subject to program limits. Asset purchases and share purchases are treated differently: CSBFP financing does not cover share purchases.
The participating lender assesses eligibility and decides whether to approve the loan. BDC financing is a separate option, assessed under its own lending criteria.
How we help you prepare
We organize your franchise costs, prepare your in-house business plan and financial projections, and help coordinate an application with a suitable lender, from start to finish.
We review the fit of the financing route before submission. Submitting an application does not guarantee approval.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Franchise financing
questions, answered
Understand what lenders may need before you apply for a franchise business loan.
Can I get a loan to open my first franchise in Canada?
You can apply for financing for a new franchise. Approval depends on the lender’s assessment of the franchise, your experience, investment, credit profile, business plan and ability to repay. We help you prepare the application and explore suitable options.
How much of my own money will I need?
There is no single down-payment requirement for every franchise loan. Your required investment depends on the total project cost, the lender, the financing product and your financial position. We review your proposed investment as part of the funding plan.
Can a CSBFP loan finance a franchise?
An eligible franchise may qualify for financing under the Canada Small Business Financing Program. Eligible costs, limits and lender requirements apply. We help prepare the business plan and application; the participating lender makes the credit decision.
Do I need a business plan for franchise financing?
Lenders commonly request a business plan and financial projections, especially for a new location. We prepare these in-house, covering the franchise model, market, management, project costs, sales assumptions and cash flow. The exact requirements depend on the lender.
What documents should I prepare for a franchise loan?
Start with the franchise details, project budget, evidence of your investment and a summary of your experience. Lenders may also request personal financial information, a franchise agreement, lease, equipment quotes and projections. An acquisition may require the existing business’s financial statements and purchase agreement. We confirm the checklist for your project.
Can you help finance an existing franchise or another location?
Yes. We help prepare financing applications for franchise acquisitions and expansion. The lender reviews the existing business performance, transaction structure, proposed costs and repayment capacity. Financing an asset purchase can differ from financing a share purchase.
What interest rate and repayment term can I expect?
Rates, fees, security and repayment terms depend on the lender, product and application. They are confirmed through the lender’s assessment and offer. We do not advertise one rate or term as available to every franchise applicant.
How long does franchise financing take?
There is no fixed approval timeline. The time required depends on the financing route, the completeness of your documents, lender review and any conditions that must be met. We help organize the submission and follow up on outstanding information.
Is Fund My Franchise a lender?
No. Fund My Franchise helps arrange franchise financing through Canadian banks, credit unions and BDC where suitable. We prepare applications and business plans and coordinate with lenders. The lender provides the loan, decides approval and sets the terms.
Do you arrange franchise financing across Canada?
Yes. We assist entrepreneurs and franchisees across Canada. Lender availability and credit-union membership or geographic requirements vary, so we consider your location when reviewing financing options.
